What happened next ...

It's been ages since my last entry describing our first few days in Cairns. Well, turns out this place is actually quite nice and we got used to it, as well as to our room and got on quite well with things.
Cairns' Esplanade is lovely, full of nice shops and restaurants and they have a very big saltwater pool that is open 24/7 and you can use for free. So we did!! It's great! There is a big boardwalk along the beach too and it's nice to go there for a walk.
After one week in Cairns, we went down to the hospital and finally finally finally, Phil got his cast removed! Hooray!!! We were very happy! The doctor was nice too and although we had to wait for ages to be seen, it was worth it in the end. The leg doesn't look too bad, it's just a bit thinner and whiter and the skin is peeling on the bottom of his foot - Why??? But anyway, it's off though he's still on crutches and will have to use them for a little while longer until the bone mends more. We've been told that it will take another two to three months until it's properly healed.
We've also made some decisions with regards to our time here - we will rent a campervan and drive down the East Coast to Sydney. We will also go to the Whitsunday Islands, dive the Great Barrier Reef, visit Fraser Island and then leave for New Zealand on the 1st May, where we will get another camper and drive around. Upon returning to Sydney, we shall see if we will stay there for a while or move on down to Melbourne and see where we can pick up some work. Big decisions and lots of shopping around for good deals!
Meeting up with Matt in Cairns and the three of us will go up in the camper to Cape Tribulation and visit the rainforest, then return to Cairns and part ways - he'll be off to New Zealand and we'll make our way down the coast.
